On January 21st e@UBC and CIBC hosted the inaugural innovation in Mining forum at the UBC Robson Square theatre. Four ventures from the e@UBC accelerator program HATCH showcased their mining related innovations followed by a discussion panel. The following ventures were present: Cambridge Energy Partners - Reducing energy costs with redeployable solar tracking. Aeriosense Technology - predictive maintenance with automated drone solutions and services. Carbonet - Reusable waste water with nano-technology. ExcelSense - Saving lives and operational monitoring with self cleaning camera technology.

Meet Alex from SiMBi
Alex Gillis is currently the Chief Marketing Officer for SiMBi one of our Social Ventures. SiMBi is an online reading platform that wants to help communities around the world fall in love with reading! They recently partnered with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide the gift of learning to refugees in Bidibidi & Nakivale, Uganda. These two refugee settlements house 400,000+ people. SiMBi will be implemented at these camps to improve reading and fluency.
